News: Golden Robot Records announces massive expansion and new signings

Golden Global Entertainment, the Sydney-based company making major inroads globally, is widening its footprint.Golden Robot Records is best known as a hard rock label, while it also has under its umbrella, the country-tinged Social Family Records.

Now it’s set up Bread and Butter Records focusing on indie and alt-rock, with LA band Valley Queen as first signing.

Riot Records is the home of punk and hardcore with The Kids, Under The Influence and Shit Tinnies.

Australian R&B and hip hop imprint Scratches Records has also come into the fold.

Mark Alexander-Erber, Golden Robot Entertainment Group founder and president says,

“The expansion of the entire group worldwide has been quite incredible. We have a core group of dedicated passionate staff around the world all working towards the same aim and its paying off with some of the worlds best artists joining our labels and a selection of the next new wave of bands. We have now bands/artists in the USA / Canada / Australia / NZ / Japan and all over Europe in many different genres across all our labels. It’s been a perfect journey and we have only just started!” He sums up: “This is the story of an Aussie based international label taking on the big boys around the world.”

Derek Shulman, president worldwide of expansion for the group, notes, “After only four years of existence, Mark, myself and the whole of the GRR team are absolutely committed to being one of the most successful artist-friendly independent music companies in the world. It is a very exciting time for us all!”

Silverthorne with UK members is about to drop its debut EP.

Austin, Texas metal trio Empty Trail who last year independently released single ‘My World’ which charted.

Nashville dream pop Palm Ghosts.

The New Strange, made up of James Durbin of American Idol fame and rock guitarist Alex Grossi, who started out writing music for companies as Disney, Touchstone, NBC and Fox, now recorded a version of Benny Mardones’ ‘Into The Night’.

‘90s Aussie band Horsehead, whose 20th anniversary of their final album will be celebrated with a box set.

US guitarist Brandon Gibbs whose music cuts a line between rock, blues, pop and country.

Prog rock keyboard player, composer, and film producer David Minasian whose Random Acts of Beauty (2010) was a landmark prog-rock release.

AVA, a prog rock outfit formed by Yes and Asia alumni.

Electric Mary (US & Japan only), powerful Melbourne band whose current album Mother is described as “a tour de force of four on the floor rock n roll.”

Melbourne-based grunge rockers Cicadastone who are prepping the release of their second album Cold Chamber.
