Live Review: Xambassadors – Melbourne 2020 Live Review by Hear2Zen Magazine - February 9, 2020February 19, 20200 Artist: Xambassadors with Boo SeekaDate: February 7th 2020Venue: Croxton Bandroom, MelbourneReviewer: Leanne HaselgrovePhotographer: Sebastian Marino Photography On a cool night, for early February in Melbourne, we are headed for the Croxton Bandroom, for what should be a night of great music. The Croxton was the go to venue back in the 70’s, outside of the Melbourne CBD for new bands, with the likes of AC/DC, Cold Chisel and the Angels gracing the stage. A rebirth in the 90’s has given the Band room a return to hosting varied performers and so on Friday the 7th of February it is the scene for “X AMBASSADORS”. Opening the evening to an eager crowd was Sydney duo Boo Seeka performing their electronic dance tunes, with a green back lit stage. Their performance was energetic and warmed up the crowd, with tracks from their 2017 release Never Too Soon. X AMBASSADORS impressed us with some of their renowned favourites, Hey Child, Jungle, Boom, Gorgeous and Inconsolable. The enthusiastic crowd sang along to a performance that was at times soulful and almost gospel like, with a lot of the inspiration for their music being drawn from personal life experiences. Casey who has been blind since birth brings an amazing feel to the band with beautiful undertones that help bind the music together to compliment Sam’s amazing vocal range. After playing for over an hour, the evening was rounded out with crowd favourites Unsteady and Renegades. For a first time performance in Australia X AMBASSADORS have shown why they already have a strong following and I can only see them building a greater fan base worldwide considering their exposure with the rest of this tour.
