Live Review: Fozzy And Buckcherry – Brisbane 2022

This was always going to be a special night when the Silverback Team put heavyweights Buckcherry and Fozzy on the same bill! Both bands do not disappoint live and bring such great energy when they are in town. We can start calling these guys locals soon as they always take the time to tour Australia bringing their distinct style of ballsy Hard Rock to our shores.

Kicking us off and originally hailing from across the ditch but now Gold Coast locals were These Four Walls. The lads bought a slamming set that was original and unique, taking influences from many styles.  The songs were tight, and the sound was incredible, stage energy intense and these lads were obviously having a little too much fun. Playing tracks from their recent full-length album “This is Not a Future” these guys did the job of warming up the Brisbane crowd with catchy, rhythm, riffs and perfect vocal melodies that were hard hitting and punchy.

Fozzy, Fozzy Fozzy! Oi, Oi, Oi. The man the legend Chris Jericho is in the house with the mighty Fozzy! Wow! What an introduction to my first Fozzy show, the band were so tight and the energy electric! Jericho and the band opened with “Sane” and set the bar high for the evening.

The band PJ Farley (bass), Rich Ward (guitar), Grant Brooks (drums) and Billy Grey (guitar) were on fire! These guys ripped up the stage making it hard to focus on any one band member. The energy was electric and the standard of playing outstanding.

Fozzy smashed out some killer tracks from their stellar 22-year career “One Crazed Anarchist”Nowhere to Run”Do You Wanna Start a War” “Lights Go Out” and “Enemy”.

Farley and Brooks laying down a mighty rhythm section and the charismatic Ward doing what he does best, entertaining the masses with his energy and stage presence. Grey was outstanding, holding his own and bouncing off Ward with dueling guitars, a true highlight of the evening, so much fun to watch.

Jericho really entertained the crowd and with another attempted chant of “FOZZY! FOZZY! FOZZY! Oi, Oi, Oi” after a few laughs and attempts we nailed it! The band were clearly having a great time toying with the Brisbane crowd.

Highlights continued throughout the evening with outstanding renditions of “Judas” and “I Still Burn” with the climax being a killer version of AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds” paying homage to the Australian legends and a fitting tribute to end a sensational set from a powerhouse of a band.

Buckcherry bought the party as normal with a jaw dropping display of what can only be their unique style hard hitting LA rock’n’roll. The band were firing on all cylinders, bring their subtle as a sledgehammer hard hitting, sleezy, in your face set of hard fucking Rock.

On the back of their latest release “Hellbound” Josh and the lads opened with their latest single “5,4,3,2,1” along with album tracks “Gun” “So Hott” and the Title killer track “Hellbound”.

Josh was on top of his game with a stunning display of vocals, passion, and intense energy. Not to mention his mighty stage presence. This man is a machine and always brings the balls to a Buckcherry show.

Stevie D and Billy Rowe provided another guitar masterclass, working so well with each other and throwing riffs back and forth in an incredible display of 6 string entertainment. Billy holding down some serious Rhythm and leads alongside Stevie D’s class and musicianship a pleasure to behold.

Kelly LeMieux on Bass a pocket dynamo throwing himself around the stage and ripping it up! Kelly made it a pleasure to rock with his stage antics and facial expressions, he was clearly having a blast! Not to mention an outstanding performance on the 4 strings holding down a mighty fine rhythm section. Coupled with the rock-solid beastie on the skins Mr. Francis Ruiz who’s playing was perfect and sound incredible from front of house.

The band played explosive classic hits from their 27-year career “Ridin’” “Crazy Bitch” “Lit-up” and “Too Drunk to Fuck”. Pure high-octane rock and roll that never disappoints! Encore as always, a crowd favorite “Say Fuck it” blew the roof off the Tivoli with the masses going crazy!

What a brilliant evening of entertainment with all three bands delivering the goods. If you have not seen Buckcherry or Fozzy I highly suggest you go to one of the gigs over the next week and check them out, you will not be disappointed!
