Live Review: Halestorm And Theory Of A Deadman – Brisbane 2023 Live Review by Hear2Zen Magazine - February 3, 2023February 3, 20231 ARTISTS: HALESTORM AND THEORY OF A DEADMANDATE: JANUARY 2ND 2023VENUE: THE TIVOLI, BRISBANEPHOTOGRAPHER: ANDREW TREADWELLREVIEWER: HAYLEY TREADWELL I have been waiting for this tour since the release of ‘Back From The Dead’. I absolutely love this album. The songs and lyrics are always so powerful. But on Thursday night at The Tivoli, Lzzy Hale and Halestorm brought those songs and lyrics to life so passionately. Clearly happy to be back in Australia and after the disappointment of having to cancel their New Zealand shows, the band really gave us a performance showing why they are one of the greatest Rock/Metal bands of our time. But speaking of great bands, supporting Halestorm was Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman. I have been a fan of these guys for a while and was excited to see them live for the first time, and I was equally as excited to see they had quite a showing of fans in the crowd singing along with their songs ‘Bitch Came Back’, ‘Bad Girlfriend’ and ‘Rx (Medicate)’. These fellas really put on a show and it’s beyond me why they are not bigger here. One could only imagine the wider appeal these bands would have here with some support from Australian radio, but Theory certainly got the crowd pumped for Halestorm! When the time came for Halestorm to take the stage, the music rumbled through the venue, and then Lzzy, powerful and strong, began to sing ‘The Steeple’ , what a great song to start with!! The fans immediately started singing along and pumping their fists in the air. Followed by ‘Love Bites (So D I)’ and then my favorite track off BFTD ‘Wicked Ways’. I was hoping they played this!!! The setlist for the night made my heart sing as they played one song off ‘Back From The Dead’ and then a song predating that album, then back to BFTD and they kept this pattern most of the night really treating us to so many new Live songs! For me the moment of the night was when Lzzy performed ‘Raise your Horns’ on the piano. Her voice just gets better and better and she delivered this song with such intense passion, and the crowd showed their adoration by obliging and “raising their horns” It was a sight to behold! The 3 song encore started with ‘Brightside’ and as the beat kicked in the crowd erupted to enjoy the last few songs! Next up was 2018 hit ‘Uncomfortable’ and then Halestorm bid us farewell with one of their most loved songs ‘I Miss the Misery’. Halestorm took the stage with force and left an impact on their Brisbane crowd! I cannot wait until they are back with more new hits for us to rock out to! To Halestorm, Theory of a Deadman, Live Nation Australia and Maric Media, thanks for having us along.
