News: The Vanns Release Long Awaited Second Album

THE VANNS reveal long-awaited second album LAST OF YOUR KIND

Title track leads dynamic & highly anticipated effort from South Coast favourites

The culmination of three years of touring and letting life experiences change and nurture their artistry, has led THE VANNS to create their most cohesive and dynamic work to date – the long-awaited sophomore record, LAST OF YOUR KIND.

For long time followers of The VANNS, the album beautifully traces the band’s journey from their 2019 breakthrough debut Through The Walls, as they have grown into one of Australia’s premier touring indie-rock groups.
Last Of Your Kind, thriving in its elevated sense of storytelling and song writing, positions The VANNS in a bright and dynamic new artistic chapter, perfectly exemplified by the title track, which has been lifted as the band’s new single.

Opening the record, ‘Last Of Your Kind’ bubbles with intensity and euphoria; vocally, it is the perfect way to lay down the foundation for the rest of the record ahead. Beautifully paced guitars and rhythms take the listener through the track, as Jimmy Vann captivates with a vocal quality not unfamiliar with fans of artists including Gang Of Youths, The National, Arcade Fire or Broken Social Scene.

“The idea behind ‘Last Of Your Kind’ and a message throughout the album is living the most fruitful and spontaneous life you possibly can, in saying that, there is also no hiding the fact that we can all hit rock bottom, but you will always make it out the other side. Drop all the walls of questioning what other people may think about you. Embrace being different, embrace being weird and embrace being you, there will never be another… so make YOU the best fucking version you can.” The VANNS

As Last Of Your Kind opens further, the breadth of The VANNS sphere of influence becomes more apparent. Stadium-sized sounds and arrangements (‘Haunted’, ‘Feels Good Now’) would feel at home in a playbook thumbed by The Killers or The Hold Steady; more intimate moments (‘Silhouette’, ‘Thinkin ‘Bout The Nights’) have a Springsteen-esque stamp, while the boldness of the group dynamic simply shines across tracks like ‘Settle Me Down’ and ‘Collide’

Featuring a slew of tracks fans will have heard over the last 12-24 months including ‘Haunted’(which landed itself at #1 on triple j’s Most Played tracks), ‘Feels Good Now’, ‘Red Light’ and their most recent release, ‘Ever’, Last Of Your Kind captures The VANNS in a striking period of creativity.

“The four of us have all been through a whirlwind of change in the last couple of years in the making of this record, but we have never been closer as mates. The recording process was a pretty surreal experience, most of the tracks are nearly all recorded live with us four in a room and some even entirely (vocals and everything). We had our good mate Chris Collins producing this record and it was so tight knit with him, he really got the best out of us being a live band and honing that live energy. So cheers to album number two and many more to come…” The VANNS

Through The Walls firmly established The VANNS on the radars of many around the country; netting The VANNS the lucrative triple j Feature Album, as well as strong support across national community radio, DSPs and online media. Springboarding this success into the live arena, The VANNS enjoyed a SOLD OUT national tour off the back of the record, as well as successful support slots through Australian arenas with the likes of The Kooks and The Wombats

Having SOLD OUT venues across the country, accruing over 30 million streams across their catalog to date, The VANNS’ music has struck a chord and continues to grow in popularity.

“Powered by soaring vocals, shining guitars and crashing percussion, it’s got your next fave crowd singalong written all over it.”

“I’m not sure there’s a more consistent Aussie outfit than The VANNS. I know before pressing play I’m going to dig their releases, and they never let me down. Their latest single ‘Haunted’ continues the trend with its emotive vocals from Jimmy Vann and powerful themes.”

“The VANNS delivered one of the best shows that I have ever been to at the venue. From their controlling stage presence and music sounding exactly like their recordings, to the killer support acts – it was a show that you really didn’t want to be missing at all.”

“The four-piece have grown to become a quintessential name to the Australian rock scene and the many pockets of brilliance it contains, taking a ‘quality AND quantity’ approach to songwriting that ensures that they’re never quite forgotten about without having to compensate in their work’s strength: an incredibly difficult task the band have come to flourish in.”

“…anticipation grew for South Coast favourites The Vanns, who have become a true powerhouse of modern-day Australian rock and roll in recent years. Armed with a festival-ready, stadium-filling sound and electric showmanship, The Vanns turned it up to 11…”

“…it was hard to believe that this was not their very own headline tour…”

“…guitar riffs have become more complex and their overall sound is tighter and sharper, allowing more space to grow as a four-piece.”
