Podcast: Episode 201 – Jon Toogood Talks Last Of The Lonely Gods

Welcome To Episode 201

In this Episode we are joined by Jon Toogood.
Best known as the lead singer from Shihad – New Zealand Music Hall of Fame inductee Jon Toogood releases his debut solo album Last Of The Lonely Gods, on October 11th

The album – featuring singles ‘Gravity’, ‘Love Is Forever’ and its title track – is a clear departure from the intensity of Shihad and leans towards a more vulnerable and stripped back sound.

‘Lost in My Hometown’ sees Jon return to his acoustic guitar; the meditative tool he used to process his grief after losing his mother during a covid lockdown in 2021, and soon after, his brother-in-law.

Jon was touring New Zealand at the time of the Omnicron outbreak which left him locked down in Wellington, isolated from his wife and children in Australia. Jon stayed with his sister and brother-in-law for 3 and a half months. During this time his brother-in-law was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer which was hard for Jon to witness.

An acoustic offering that lends itself towards one legend and his acoustic guitar hitting the road and sharing his stories… Catch Jon live in Australia – tour dates below.

Making his mark on music for over 35 years in Aotearoa New Zealand, Jon, as part of Shihad and supergroup The Adults, has enjoyed 6 NZ #1 Albums, 15 NZ Top 40 albums and 25 NZ Top 40 Singles.
