Metal = Cavalera. The brothers, Max and Iggor. And their influence on thrash metal is not up for debate, and their legacy has become a defining part of the music scene.
They came through Brisbanes, The Tivoli, and it was nothing short of spectacular! The night kicked off with Brisbane’s very own Cryptivore. They opened with “Cocoon Hecatomb,” and the energy in the room insane. It was cool to see a local band getting so much love from a packed venue, especially on a Saturday night!
A quick and fiery set with killer vibe and musicianship really showcased the talent in the Australian metal scene. Then we had Algor Mortis taking things up a notch! Their song “Severed” kicked off an hour of pure death metal that got everyone in the audience moving. These guys were totally pumped to be sharing the stage with the Cavalera brothers, and their set featured some upcoming EP tracks that were brutal and awesome. It was a treat for fans of the heavier side of metal!
Finally, the moment we all had been waiting for arrived. The stage changed, and Cavalera Conspiracy was ready to rock! They kicked things off with “The Curse” and didn’t waste any time diving into their classic tracks. Max’s statement about being the “only Sepultura here tonight” had everyone cheering like crazy! The setlist was a nostalgic trip through their early years, with heavy hitters like “Necromancer” and the epic “O Fortuna” blending seamlessly with newer tracks. It was a perfect fusion of classic and modern sounds, maintaining that raw energy that first drew us in.
The atmosphere was electric, with Max and Iggor feeding off the crowd’s energy, creating one unforgettable night. For anyone who grew up listening to Sepultura, hearing those iconic songs live was truly a dream come true. It wasn’t just a concert; it was a celebration of metal history, and if you’re a metalhead, you need to experience this for yourself!
With a solid 10/10 rating, this concert was an epic reminder of why we love metal music so much!
