Greta Van Fleet: A Night of Rock at The Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane, August 21st, 2024

The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane erupted with the electrifying energy of the Grammy Award-winning rock act, Greta Van Fleet. This much-anticipated return to Australia and New Zealand marked the band’s first performance on their shores since 2019, igniting a wave of excitement among dedicated fans.

The evening promised not only a showcase of their dynamic sound but also featured the unique Colorado power trio, The Velveteers, as the support act, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. The Velveteers, with their blazing guitar riffs and captivating vocals delivered by Demi Demitro, kicked off the night with a powerful performance. Accompanied by not one, but two drummers—Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig—the group created a rich, full sound that reverberated through the venue. Their engaging presence and standout tracks like “Choking,” “Moonchild,” “See Your Face,” and “Fix Me” won over the Brisbane crowd, warming them up for the main event.

The audience was already buzzing with anticipation as they eagerly awaited the arrival of Greta Van Fleet. As the lights dimmed, the atmosphere shifted. With almost 15 minutes of orchestral introduction filling the air, the excitement reached a fever pitch. When the opening chords of “The Falling Sky” resonated through the hall, the crowd erupted into cheers, signaling the start of an unforgettable performance. Following closely were the powerful tracks “Indigo Streak” and “Caravel,” keeping the momentum alive as the band dived into their back-to-back hits.

Fronted by Joshua Kiszka, with brothers Jake (guitar) and Sam Kiszka (bass and keys) alongside drummer Daniel Wagner, Greta Van Fleet showcased an impressive blend of technical prowess and spirited abandon.

Each member brought their unique flair to the stage, creating a captivating experience that felt both polished and spontaneous. The band’s chemistry was palpable, drawing the audience into their world with every note. From soaring vocals to intricate guitar solos, the performance was a testament to their talent and dedication to rock music.

As the night progressed, Brisbane was left sweaty and exhilarated, the audience craving more from the electrifying act. Greta Van Fleet’s ability to connect with their fans while delivering a powerful and memorable performance is what truly sets them apart in the modern rock scene.

As the evening came to a close, the excitement lingered in the air, with fans already buzzing about the prospect of the second night. Who’s ready for round two? The remarkable night at The Fortitude Music Hall was not just a concert; it was a celebration of rock music and the unbreakable bond between artists and their fans.
