Hanabie are like energizer bunnies on a caffeine high! These ladies just keep going and going with an unstoppable energy that is off the charts! Their live performances are a visual dream, blending Harajuku aesthetics with head-banging metalcore. These talented musicians bring an electric, crazy, energetic rock vibe that lights up the stage! And did I mention the look! They look amazing with plenty of hardcore attitude to boot!

Let us talk about the warm-up act from Melbourne for a minute! – Gloom in the Corner. A metalcore band known for their dark, heavy, and operatic sound, but don’t let that fool you into thinking slow and melancholy No Way! The performance last night was a mix of theatre and crowd engagement, creating a unique experience that is truly engaging, addictive and mesmerizing.

Mikey Arthur, the band’s vocalist and primary songwriter, showcasing an impressive vocal range, seamlessly transitioning from melodic singing to guttural screams. His ability to convey emotion through his voice adds depth to their concept-driven music and kept the crowd captivated and headbanging to the metalcore riffs and rhythm.

The band’s stage presence is dynamic and engaging, with each member going completely nuts! Matt Stevens delivered powerful riffs and solos and threw himself around like a dynamo, buggered if I know how he could play and do that! While Paul Musolino on bass not to be outdone matched it with class proving that he could headbang and play as well as keeping rock solid timing with Nic Harberle on drums. Setting down a rock-solid rhythm section. Together, they created a masterclass and immersive experience for the audience, bringing their narrative-driven concept to life!

I have never had the opportunity to see this band live and I must say what energy! And what an amazing set. The lads really gave it their A-game entertaining the Triffid faithful with an onslaught of “Metalcore” and good old-fashioned Rock!! I am a new fan and look forward to seeing Gloom in the Corner back in Bris Vegas sooner than later!

Now, onto the main event—Hanabie. The Tokyo-based all-girl rock band is known for their kickass live performances that blend metalcore, EDM, and Harajuku aesthetics Anime and whatever the fuck else you want to throw in for good measure! These ladies deliver! Their stage presence is nothing short of mesmerizing, with each member bringing their unique energy and talent to the forefront. It was hard to focus on just one member of the band!

Hanabie’s live performance in Brisbane was nothing short of a rock spectacle! The Japanese metalcore band brought their signature energy and crazy rock style to the stage, leaving the audience in awe. Lead vocalist Yukina captivated the audience with her dynamic range, seamlessly transitioning from cute anime-like vocals to intense death growls. Guitarist Matsuri delivered powerful riffs and electrifying solos, while bassist Hettsu and drummer Chika provided a solid backbone with their energetic rhythms and impressive technical skills. All while chugging down a few beers I might add! Welcome back to Australia ladies its not your first rodeo.

The band’s colourful Harajuku-inspired outfits added a visual flair to their performances, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. Hanabie’s shows are a perfect mix of heavy tones and playful aesthetics and last night was a prime example of this along with top-notch musicianship. Each member highlighting their incredible talent last night at the Triffid and the Brisbane crowd could not get enough, drawn into the band’s infectious vibe, making it a night of pure rock and roll magic.

Behind the camera, Hanabie are a pleasure to shoot with a look that is spectacular—not only top-notch musicians but visually stunning to capture. It would not do the band justice to not capture this moment in all its glory and I really that I did.

Playing a set that rocked the Brisbane crowd I’d be a fool to translate songs for you but “Neet Game” “Girls Talk” “Sunrise Soup” and the smashing encore and mouthful of “Today’s a good Day & So Epic” we stand outs for me at a show in which I need to repeat myself was so full of energy from both bands, who really gave it their all and put on a cracker rock show! If you are on the fence with this one you need to just buy a ticket!

If you thought you knew what a rock show was, Hanabie will make you think again! 🤘🔥

Big Thank you as always to the Hear2Zen Crew for having me step in with the lens.

Cheers!

Mert.
