When a band goes away and then comes back it always leaves me in two minds. First is why they went away in the first place, and the second is why they are coming back.
Safe to say Jet blew all of that out of the water with their 20th Anniversary of Get Born Tour.
Openers Pacific Avenue have not been on my radar before but are firmly on them now. Such a great power pop / indie rock sensibility from these young guys who play well beyond their years
I couldn’t recommend them highly enough to you all. Any other headliner would have had their work cut out for them, but not Jet. They did not come to play
They warmed the crowd up with Shine On and Shaka Rock, before getting to the job at hand of showcasing the mammoth that was “Get Born”, and Nic had the crowd in the palm of his hands as he announced it was time
to do just that, in it’s entirety.
Time stood still for me as the band ripped through hit after hit, and honestly you could have closed your eyes and thought you had the album on. The Vibe in the Fort was purely electric
with the band not only feeding off each other but the crowd and vice versa.
Jet could have easily called it a night and left the hot, sweaty, Brisbane Crowd completely satisfied. No, not a chance. They then gave an extra surprise with their upcoming single “Little Fish” which is clearly
an entrée of what is to come
The guys showed why they garnered both critical and fan acclaim. They just know how to do what they do, and do it well. Let’s hope this is the rebirth of Jet
