“Youth Gone Wild in Brisbane: Sebastian Bach Brings Big Guns to Eaton’s Hill”
WELL, LET ME JUST SAY… SEBASTIAN BACH supported by Willie J’s 6v6s at Eaton’s Hill Hotel, Brisbane 29.11.25 was pure rock ’n’ roll mayhem. 36 years since the debut Skid Row album blew us all away, F**k me, someone pulled up to my curb in the Delorean, and took me back, because this show was a time machine. Bas has never sounded better, and he looks incredible. Joking about being an “old man” with knee problems and aches, but honestly, he looked the part, impeccable, classy and nonstop energy and performance overload from the very first note.
But… before we get there, let’s talk about the time warp back to the days of groove and love! Heavy influences of Purple, Zeppelin, Rush, rock royalty. Willie J’s 6v6s were sensational taking from the masters yet creating a modern rock twist!
- Seb Robertson on bass hammering down serious groove, Geddy Lee would be proud mate!
- Cal Leavey on drums, pocket rocket, smashing out serious attitude, finally front and centre instead of hidden in the shadows.
- Willie J Maxwell, paisley rocker with a Flying V, pure emotion, pure rock ’n’ roll. Highlight: “A Little Help from My Friends” got the punters primed, arms in the air, voices raised. The show was high energy fun and combined all the right ingredients for a rock show.
These guys have the 70’s look but a powerful vibe. A band to watch and stand up and take notice of! Ahhhh… its proud to be Australian our musical talent is some of the best in the world.
Now the man of the hour. The legend. Sebastian Bach. Deafening scream from the Brisbane faithful as Bas and band hit the stage with “What Do I Got to Lose” anyone daydreaming got jolted awake. The sound mix? BIG, LOUD, inyourface. Legendary mixing, this is how it is done!
Roof nearly came off when Seb belted those lyrics: “Cause I won’t be the one left behind / You can’t be king of the world if you’re slave to the grind” . Straight into “Here I Am” pure fire. Energy levels hitting 11 on the three double Marshalls.
Band intro: “Bruiser” Brody Derozie on guitar, Fede Delfino on bass (Seb joked if anyone can sing like Bach, it’s him). First time in Brisbane, first time in Australia — crowd gave them a warm welcome with some banter and prompting from Bas, lots of fun and jokes on stage the band were having fun and it was obvious making the whole event a big party.
Then the classics: “Big Guns”, “Sweet Little Sister” straight back to high school bus rides when a mate first said “Check out Skid Row.” Who the fuck is this new band man that dude can sing! Nostalgia overload.
“18 & Life” crowd sang the whole first verse and chorus before Seb jumped in. Goosebumps. Pure anthem.
“Rattlesnake Shake”, “Can’t Stand the Heartache” tears, memories, then more fire.
Drummer reveal, Seb joked he barely knew the guy… turns out it was his son Paris! Crowd went nuts. Fan sign taped to the drum cage: “Paris why did you invite 2000 to our date?” hilarious.
Tributes rolled in: Ozzy with “I Don’t Know”, Ace Frehley with “Shock Me”, Bon Scott with “T.N.T.” . Brisbane crowd went ballistic. Brody owned it, phenomenal guitarist.
“Piece of Me” Fede pumping that monster bass line that I also loved when attempting to play in bands a killer sound from a true rock star. “Monkey Business”, “Future of Youth” party kept raging. Fede took his shirt off eightpack on display and half the crowd needed defibs. “Muscles on his muscles” someone shouted. I think that was my wife?!?!
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain…
“I Remember You” every single voice in the venue joined in. A sense of love, joy, and timelessness. Bach nailed it. His voice still resonates, still hits those notes, still makes you believe. Words cannot explain the feeling when this was playing united as one, we all sang.
We’ve had our share of hard times
But that’s the price we paid
And through it all, we kept the promise that we made
I swear you’ll never be lonely
Oh-oh-oh, oh
“Midnight Tornado” killer riffing. Seb teased “that’s it, all the songs are done.” Crowd chanted “Youth Gone Wild, Youth gone wild, Youth Gone wild” Seb pointed to his tattoo; venue exploded that trademark riff.
Encore “We Can’t Be Beaten” and Skid Row’s cheeky “Get the Fuck Out.”
18 & Life Later… Bach Still Rules the Stage!
Over 20 songs including some amazing covers, shoot me I lost count of all the cool improvs. Fleeting minutes, lifetime of memories. Bas, Paris, Fede, Brody you left nothing in the tank. Highoctane, sweatdrenched, perfect in every way.
Thank you so much this kid certainly had some memories coming back, some air guitar, bad out of tune karaoke and maybe just maybe shed a tear. This is the power of music,
Mert
