The crowd buzzed with excitement as the tightly packed venue prepared to witness a night filled with sonic intensity, powerful performances, and an undeniable sense of community. Brand of Sacrifice, hailing from Toronto, took to the stage with a fierce energy that set the tone for the night. Having just returned for their second trip to Australia in 2024, the six-year-old band showcased their growth and prowess. Vocalist Kyle Anderson commanded the stage, blending the speed and darkness of death metal with breakdown-heavy intensity, as well as electronic, choir, and industrial elements.
This innovative fusion added layers of complexity to their sound, elevating the traditional deathcore formula into something fresh and exhilarating. The Brisbane crowd responded enthusiastically, their palpable excitement suggesting that Brand of Sacrifice would soon return to headline their own show in the city. Following the relentless energy of Brand of Sacrifice, Great American Ghost took the spotlight with a performance that would leave an indelible mark on the audience. With their new album, “Tragedy of The Commons,” set to release on January 31, 2025, the band showcased tracks that hinted at the impending musical journey. During a brief interlude, a fan nearby exclaimed, “Holy fuck, this was an awesome show,” perfectly articulating the collective sentiment reverberating through the crowd.
And now for Thy Art. Opening with “Destroyer of Dreams” and “Blood Throne” from their latest album, the band quickly captured the audience’s attention. Other highlights included “Join Me in Armageddon” and the title track “Godlike,” creating a cohesive narrative throughout the performance.
Closing with “Puppet Master,” Thy Art delivered a massive set that showcased their growth and creativity. Their new vocalist, Tyler Miller, proved to be a dynamic frontman, while drummer Jesse’s thunderous performance left the audience in awe. The production quality was top-notch, contributing to a night of absolute destruction that the attendees would remember for years to come.
