MORE ABOUT STEVE BALBI
The artist, composer, and producer Steve Balbi has a new record – BREAKDOWN – it’s available on Limited Edition 12” Vinyl, CD, and all Digital platforms, on Triplespeak through Metropolitan Groove Merchants (MGM Distribution).
A founding member and the producer of Noiseworks and Electric Hippies, in his solo work Balbi is a creative chameleon who bespeaks Bowie and Lennon, meanwhile exploring the diversity, refinement, and dirty rotten groove of Radiohead. BREAKDOWN is Balbi’s fourth solo studio record. Beautiful but distorted, daunting but heavenly, enlightening and evocative, yet melancholic and intoxicating,
Balbi bends every genre with his new body of work. “This is the sound of Steve’s heart… right here! It is an invitation to connect with him and everything around him that he considers important. I find his lyrics deliberate, pointed, and powerful, never saying something he doesn’t believe in. I love it! And I love that it isn’t at all what I expected. I expected heavy rock or something… I don’t even know what! I’m completely ecstatic to have been so wrong.” – Kate Ceberano
To celebrate the launch of BREAKDOWN, Balbi played to a full house at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday 24 August, featuring an all-star band and very special guest, Abby Dobson. Don’t miss the chance to see the chameleon transcend his unique, celestial sensibility live, when he hits the road to support his new record later in the year.
