Podcast: Episode 194 – Jack Bergin From Void Of Vision

Welcome to Episode 194.

In this episode we are lucky enough to chat with Jack Bergin from Void Of Vision.

The band have gone from strength to strength since their inception in 2013, and September 20th will see the band’s newest and most well rounded album to date “What I’ll Leave Behind” hit the streets.

This album sees Jack introspectively look into his own life, after almost losing it. The songs tell the story of his journey and him looking forward to the future

He wears his heart on his sleeve and the album is a brilliant piece of work, which drops while the band are on the road with Parkway Drive. Jack is not only an amazing vocalist but a wonderful chat and return guest and we cannot thank him enough for his time.

MORE ABOUT VOID OF VISION

A new era has dawned for Melbourne’s Void Of Vision, with the quartet today announcing a brand new album, What I’ll Leave Behind, due out on September 20 via UNFD.

A stupefying collection of explosive riffs, viscous textures and serrated metalcore, What I’ll Leave Behind finds Void Of Vision barrelling their trademark sounds into new and scintillating territory, redefining modern heavy music through a sharp and compelling lens.

Following the scintillating conclusion of the CHRONICLES trilogy earlier this year, a metamorphosis is underway for Melbourne’s Void Of Vision. The human form of Jack Bergin is gone; his whereabouts unknown, for now. I am here to speak in his place, your Angel of Darkness. Human to some. A deadly kind of divine.

Transcending boundaries and the fabric of reality, I have materialised onto this plane, and invite you now to bear witness to a brand new chapter. Let us begin with a brand new anthem, a sonic tribute to my arrival: Angel Of Darkness.

Ingest alt metal flourishes, weighted equally by searing heavy and pulsing pop. Experience vulnerable lyricism balanced with a broad range of influences spanning Charli XCX to Meshuggah. No genre can hold Void Of Vision, and the beautiful darkness consumes them after a decade of aggressive onslaught. Are you watching closely?

The entity known as Void Of Vision have solidified their standing as one of the most innovative and sonically explosive acts in the modern heavy scene for over a decade. In 2023 alone, the band have performed at Australia’s first-ever Knotfest edition, alongside Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Megadeth and more, collaborated with metal-meets-electronic DJ and producer PhaseOne on the ambitious crossover single Eyes Wide Shut and unveiled the amalgamated CHRONICLES series as a complete album, bringing together the previously standalone EPs LUST, HEAVEN and UNDERWORLD into a gripping snapshot of Void Of Vision’s relentlessly inventive past, present and future.
