Brisbane absolutely got wrecked in the best way possible last Night.

Nothing, Nowhere. delivered a massive, emotional, high-energy set that had the crowd locked in from start to finish. Raw, loud, and brutally honest!
If you were there, you felt it. If you missed it, you missed one hell of a night.
There’s something special about night one of a tour. No one really knows what’s coming… but you can feel it brewing before the first note even hits. Brisbane got that honour for The Return of the Reaper Tour 2026, and yeah, we weren’t ready.
This tour marks a decade of Nothing, Nowhere. carving his name into the scene, and bringing that beautifully chaotic mix of emo, hip hop, rock and everything in between back to Australia. From recording in the woods of Vermont to commanding global stages, Joe Mulherin has built something that doesn’t fit in a box and honestly, that’s exactly why it works.
But before the Reaper returned… we got warmed up properly.
Closure – Aussie Grit Done Right
Sydney’s Closure kicked things off and wasted absolutely no time setting the tone. First time catching them live for me and yeah, I get the hype now.
Straight out of the gate, it was that gritty, emotionally charged post-hardcore punch, but with a bit of finesse. Lucy absolutely owned the stage, that push-and-pull vocal style, switching between clean melodic lines and full-send screams, just hits different live.
Tracks like Hindsight, Roadside, Echoes and even their take on Song 2 had the room locked in early. The band were tight like properly tight, with riffs that had that slightly off-centre, almost funky/jazzy edge layered over a dark, heavy backbone.
Lighting? Absolute photographer’s nightmare! red, blue, haze everywhere… but hey, when life gives you red lights, you roll with it.
They wrapped up with Cold Space after smashing through Glare, Empty Hands and Every Time, and honestly… the only complaint? Set was way too short.
Closure are building something serious. Not “up and coming” more like “pay attention now before everyone else does.”
Sace6 – Controlled Chaos (In the Best Way)
First ever Aussie show for sace6, and you could feel how much it meant to them. Super humble, super grateful… and then they absolutely tore into it.
Formed in 2024 out of New York/New Jersey, Sace6 are one of those bands that shouldn’t work on paper, but somehow hit harder because of it.
Smooth, almost hypnotic R&B-style vocals from Sace, layered over Noah Thomas’ crushing guitar work and savage screams. It’s not just genre-blending, it’s genre collision.
Live, it felt like beauty and chaos happening at the same time. One minute you’re swaying, the next minute the room’s ready to erupt. Tracks like Nepenthe, Allured, Covet, Easy Exit, Devotion and Perfidy hit hard, and the Brisbane crowd was all in, screams, movement, full energy.
They’ve got that monochrome, moody aesthetic going on, but don’t let that fool you, the live show is anything but chill. It’s emotional, unpredictable, and honestly… pretty addictive.
Nothing, Nowhere. – The Reaper Returns
Then it happened.
No big overthinking it Nothing, Nowhere. came out swinging.
From the first moments of Cardinal Nightmare, you knew this wasn’t going to be a cruisy set. Joe had a mission, and every second counted. The intensity was immediate, raw, emotional, and completely locked in.
What makes him different is that constant flip between styles. One minute it’s stripped-back vulnerability, the next it’s full-band, heavy, driving chaos. It’s emo, trap, post-hardcore… but really, it’s just him.
Tracks like Love or Chemistry, Counterfeit, Clarity in Kerosene and Pieces of You hit that emotional nerve, while Thirst 4 Violence, Skully and Hammer brought the weight.
And the band? Unreal. Tight, powerful, and clearly dialled in, the kind of musicians that elevate everything without overplaying it. Just pure support, pure skill, all night.
By the time Weight of the Wind, John Wayne and Sorry I’m Trying rolled through, the crowd was completely locked, and yeah, there were moments where it felt less like a gig and more like a shared release.
Short set? Yeah.
Did it matter? Not even a little.
Final Word
Three very different acts. Three very real performances. No filler.
Night, one set the bar stupidly high for the rest of the country, and if this is how the tour starts, the rest of Australia is in for something serious.
