ARTIST: CHELSEA WOLFE
ALBUM: THE DARK
LABEL: LOMA VISTA
RELEASE DATE: 21ST AUGUST 2026
Chelsea Wolfe steps into a massive new era on The Dark (Loma Vista). Shifting from a underground sound to music that can take on any festival crowd is a huge move, but also shows she backs herself and its totally owning who she is as a human and an artist.
Working along side producer Jennifer Decilveo and creative partner Ben Chisholm, Wolfe has delivered a significantly more raw organic sounds, which leaves wide open space for her story telling and vocal delivery.
The cast of characters on the album shouldnt need introduction but its important they get their due. When you have the likes of Robin Finck (Guns N Roses / Nine Inch Nails), Matt Chamberlain (A Perfect Circle / Bob Dylan / Bruce Springsteen) Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Nine Inch Nails) and Australia’s own Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) backing you, its easy to see why the tracks are on a level all their own
‘Cold’ gets the album under way, and you can tell Wolfe has moved to a period in her life of regaining a lost independence and a sense of rebirth. ‘I’m Not There’ is sad yet beautiful, and the line “It’s too late, we’re already strangers:, tells a story all too familiar to a lot of us.
‘Turn The Key’ while grand has a vulnerable tone throughout. ‘Seethe’ has some very 80’s cure like qualities but has an amazing hook throughout that
‘Halo’ is a bare bones folk, yet seems to hold a huge amount of emotions. The title track takes you on a journey from light to dark with a huge soundscape in between
The Dark is an album full of dynamic twists and turns you will not be able to keep it in a lane. Wolfe has said farewell to past toxicity and pain, and turned it into something that sees her take it from whisper-soft vocals to bone-rattling howls, this is Chelsea at her absolute most confident and accessible.
