Yours and Owls are delighted to introduce your Gong Christmas memory makers for 2023 and are excited beyond belief to welcome international artists back for the first time since 2020! They join a collection of Australian music royalty and future music icons, drum machine roll, please ….
Known for bridging the gap between Indie, hip-hop, punk and rock, genre-bending British artist Bakar will flow from the runways of Paris, where he soundtracked Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 23 Men’s show during Paris Fashion Week, to Yours and Owls! Bakar, who has a knack for delivering captivating lyrics and melodic beats, has been captivating his community of over 3.5M+ monthly listeners on Spotify with his unique brand of music, supporting the likes of Travis Scott and playing festivals like Reading & Leeds.

Aotearoa’s introspective ethereal pop duo Broods have been wooing the collective since 2013 with their decadent, floating indie tones; they have amassed over a billion streams across multiple platforms to date. The ten-time New Zealand Music Award winners have collaborated with the likes of Lorde, Tove Lo, and toured with the pop queen herself, Taylor Swift!

Platinum-selling, Helpmann and multiple ARIA Award-winning Chet Faker returns to Australia for his first local live show since 2015 under the original moniker that made him a household name, new music in hand, and we are here for it! A world-renowned singer, songwriter, and producer whose atmospheric sonic landscapes, both live and recorded, have captured a worldwide fanbase.
Since first emerging from (and defining) the Southern California pop-punk scene in 1978, the legendary Descendents have continued to declare war on mediocrity; they have released classic after classic, from their landmark 1982 LP ‘Milo Goes to College’ through to 2022’s ‘9th & Walnut’! Eight studio albums, five EP’s, decades of endless global touring and consistently inspiring and educating generations of adolescents on the laws of punk rock by encouraging them to boldly launch into the mosh pit; we welcome the band of Milo Aukerman (vocals), Bill Stevenson (drums), Stephen Egerton (guitar), and Karl Alvarez (bass) to the Gong in 2023!
Grammy-nominated prodigiously gifted writer, lyricist and producer Earl Sweatshirt has cemented himself as one of the foremost culturally relevant MC’s in the game since the release of his seminal mixtape ‘Earl’ at just sixteen years old! Known for his reflective lyrics, technical dexterity and distinctively relaxed flow, he has released numerous critically acclaimed LP’s, most recently 2022’s ‘SICK!’.
Two platinum and six gold ARIA certifications for his tracks and with over 275 million global streams, everyone’s favourite producer and mesmerising beat maker, Golden Features, will bring his deep house dance to Gong Christmas! Fresh off the back of announcing the release of his second studio LP, ‘Sisyphus’, the follow-up to his #1 ARIA Dance Chart debut LP ‘Sect’ (2018) and releasing brand new banger ‘Flesh’ this month. Golden Features has been delivering his face-melting live shows across the globe since 2014 to critical acclaim, playing major festivals and selling out headline shows, cementing his place in the Australian electronic music royal family!
Hilltop Hoods need no introduction, multi-platinum, Australian Hip-Hop royalty who consistently push and redefine the frontiers of rap. The legacy of Hilltop Hoods is undeniable. Their unparalleled career speaks for itself with Ten ARIA awards; six #1 Albums; #1 most streamed artist on Spotify two years running; sold-out arena tours and over 60 x Platinum accreditations and counting. They kicked off 2023, making history gathering the most song entries into the triple J Hottest 100 to date. 2022 saw them sell out arenas across the country off the back of the release of their sixth #1 studio album ‘The Great Expanse’, bow down!
Sacramento spoken word poetry, punk, folk, rapper Hobo Johnson, aka Frank Lopes, cultivated the moniker Hobo Johnson after being kicked out of his parent’s house and left to live in his ’94 Corolla. He has been propelling his way to the top via viral homegrown style videos showcasing his singularity, an amalgamation of spoken word poetry, punk, folk and rap backed by his band The Lovemakers ever since!
Raised in an NYC neighbourhood saturated with gang culture, New York heartthrob Lil Tjay survived adult sins and consequences before he was old enough to drive, eventually earning himself a year of incarceration. Upon release, the studio would be his saving grace and destiny. His first recording, the heartless yet catchy ‘Resume’

followed by ‘Brothers’, would earn him his first Internet viral smash and result in streaming stats in the millions. He’s since collaborated with several prominent musicians, such as YG, Pop Smoke, Tory Lanez & 6LACK. Tjay survived a near-fatal shooting in 2022 and is back with a vengeance; we are stoked to welcome him to Yours and Owls.
It’s 2023, and the SAX is BACK! Jamaican-born, American-raised, multitalented musical wizard Masego brings his signature blend of trap, house and jazz that is nothing short of supernatural! This magician taught himself to play cello, drums, piano, guitar and saxophone! After gaining attention thanks to his online videos of live looping, on the spot beat-making and improved sax over other artists’ beats. His debut LP ‘Lady, Lady’ landed in 2018, and he has since been busy producing and guesting on numerous recordings with the likes of Kehlani, Ro James, and Drake, and released a live EP ‘Capitol Cut’ and single ‘Garden Party’ with Big Boi and JID before his own single ‘Say You Want Me’ in 2022.
Entrancing Sydney powerhouse vocalist Meg Mac’s whirlwind career began back in 2014, when aged 23, she’d been shot into the spotlight by winning Triple J’s ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’ title. Her debut 2017 album ‘Low Blows’ reached #2 in the Australian charts and by the time of 2019 follow-up LP ‘Hope’, the singer had racked up a bunch of ARIA nominations (the Aussie equivalent of the BRITs or GRAMMYs), a track feature on HBO’s ‘Girls’ and a US tour supporting D’Angelo! After moving to the country to clear her head, she returned in 2022 to release her stunning third studio LP ‘Matter Of Time’ to further critical acclaim.

Ocean Alley have mesmerised audiences worldwide with their infectious melody lines and memorable blend of psychedelic-surf-rock since their inception in 2011. October 2022 saw the release of the band’s fourth album, ‘Low Altitude Living’. Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this talented collective has carved a distinct niche for themselves with their infectious melodies, smooth harmonies, and enthralling live performances. With their breakout hit ‘Confidence’ in 2018, Ocean Alley gained widespread recognition, propelling them to international success.

If you think you have Oliver Tree figured out, think again. For the past ten years, this platinum-selling vocalist, producer, writer, director, and performance artist has boldly explored the intersection of art and entertainment and his new and final album ‘Cowboy Tears’, sees him carefully crafting a “cowboy emo” aesthetic, unlike anything you’ve seen or heard! The Santa Cruz native has already established himself as a ground-breaking artist in the worlds of music, comedy and action sports as he creates the musical equivalent of immersive theatre for his legions of fans. Whether you’re here for the shimmering hooks, high-art aesthetic, personal reckonings or just a healthy dose of social commentary, you’ve come to the right place, partner.

The wistful grooves, glassy guitars, and sun-kissed melodies will be delivered care of Vancouver quartet Peach Pit! Their self-titled 2016 single ‘Peach Pit’ gained over 100 million streams and counting. Singles from their 2017 debut LP, ‘Being So Normal’, ‘Tommy’s Party’ and ‘Alrighty Aphrodite’ both surpassed 165 million Spotify streams as they graced the bills of festivals such as Shaky Knees Festival, Bonnaroo, Firefly Festival and many more. Their latest LP ‘From 2 to 3’ dropped in 2022; we can’t wait to see how it plays out live!

Canberra’s most successful electronic pop trio and festival favourites Safia’s theatrical stage show has earned them a reputation as one of Australia’s best live acts. They take the expansive sonic worlds they create and turn them into a jaw-dropping live experience. A #2 ARIA for their 2016 debut LP ‘Internal’ and APRA Award for Dance Work Of The Year, they have collaborated with an envious list of acts like Peking Duk and Alison Wonderland.

ARIA nominee and APRA Award Winner Vera Blue is peerless when it comes to vocal delivery; the platinum pipped singer/songwriter has consistently delivered breathtakingly flawless live shows and released a string of hit singles, three making it into the triple j Hottest 100, has 2022 LP ‘Mercurial’ the stunning follow up to her 2017 debut ‘Perennial’ has cemented her spot as the electro pop feminist the world wants and needs!
