I love A Day on The Green out at Sirromet Wines and Sunday was the perfect Spring afternoon to be out in the sun.

I grabbed a wine and some merch and we took our seats a few rows back in front of the stage! I have been a fan of The Chicks since their first album, so this one was pretty special for me!

I loved that there was a local Aussie on some of A The Day on The Green dates for The Chicks and Carla Wehbe did us proud! Carla and her band looked good and sounded better bringing her Indie-Pop tunes to the afternoon. Carla’s songs tell stories and she told us stories between the songs and I enjoyed every moment of her set! I cannot wait to see more from this very talented artist.

Next up was Elle King, and while I only knew a few of her songs, I had a bunch of fun during her set. My husband described her as a female Kid Rock and I kinda think that fits. Fun, energetic, unapologetic and delivered a great performance! I saw lots of people in the crowd singing and dancing along with Elle, and the party really kicked up when she played her most known songs in Oz, Ex’s & Oh’s and her hit duet with Miranda Lambert ‘Drunk (And I don’t wanna go home)’ to close out her set. Thanks for the party Elle, come back for a headline tour soon!

With the great openers, a gorgeous afternoon and wine flowing, the crowd was ready for The Chicks to take the stage and when they did we erupted!!

Belting out the first notes of Gaslighter with such energy and power, The Chicks paved the way for a fantastic night ahead!

I think one of the things that always drew me to The Chicks was their storytelling in each and every song and they accompanied those stories with backing visuals that sometimes made us laugh, and other times gave the songs such depth and gravity.

‘Sin Wagon’ is always fun and was a great lead into one of my new favorites ‘Texas Man’. I loved the variety the ladies played from across their albums and some beautifully thrown in covers including Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus.

When ‘Travelin’ Soldier’ played, I felt like the crowd stood still while all singing together. And the silence over the crowd as the end of the song played was deafening. What a beautiful moment.

The Acoustic set during the show was magical and included Cowboy Take Me Away and Landslide. The acoustic set really showing off how amazingly talented these Grammy award winning artists still are, and humble as ever as they shared that set surrounded closely by their band.

Following the acoustic set, marching music rang out and we were given a thrilling performance of ‘March March’ followed by equally passionate songs from their latest album ‘For Her’ and ‘Everybody Loves You’.

The Chicks closed out the night with their wildly popular song ‘Not Ready to Make Nice’ and waved goodbye to Brisbane with ‘Goodbye Earl’.

I had the time of my life with The Chicks last night and I hope they enjoyed their last Day on The Green of this tour with us at Sirromet.

The Chicks paved the way for so many female country artists and have certainly had a career full of ups and downs, but I hope this tour of Australia shows them just how loved they are and how much we want thee ladies to keep telling their stories and making music that we can share with them for many years to come.

To The Chicks, A Day on The Green and Frontier Touring, a big thank you for having us along to kick up our heels and dance the night away!

Until the next gig
