Zakk Wylde and his brothers in Black Label Society, today released Engines of Demolition, and the Berserkers worldwide have 13 tracks of ‘Rude Doom Groove’ , that are not simply another bullet in the BLS Chamber but its a massive canon of hard rock firepower with everything that the fans have come to expect when Zakk and Co. hit the Black Vatican.
You have The Riffs, The Soul and the Burning Solos mixed with Moments of Psychedelia and tribal groove that become equal parts dangerous and equal parts welcoming which keeps the listener on their toes.
‘Name In Blood’ – For someone who has not heard the song, the opening might have them scratching their heads with its deep and brooding vocal melody before it kicks into an ass kicking welcome back that shows Zakk knows how to set the tone and its the musical equivalent to getting in the ring with Mike Tyson. ‘Gatherer of Souls’ Thick, swampy, and heavy, which is Zakk at his best proving to be the perfect follow up.
‘The Gallows’ is full of soul, but doesn’t let up at all, the riffs and groove is unrelenting and c’mon, you get the cowbell and vibraslap all in one track, what’s not to love? Same goes for ‘Pedal To The Floor’. It is one of the best hard rock songs to come out in years. It takes no prisoners, and for all the people that live for the epic solo, you will not be disappointed
‘Back To Me’. Huge melodies and a massive heart; this emotive heavy track just crushes, and then you get to a track like ‘Better Days And Wiser Times’ which brings a very country tinged vibe, which I think adds an amazing layer to the album full of emotion which has Wylde showing his love for Lynyrd Skynyrd, which any long term fan would know is a band that is so important to him
‘The Hand Of Tomorrow’s Grave’ is just Doom Doom and more Doom, but the vocal melody weaves in and out giving it a great 70s vibe, which mixes in well with a track like ‘Broken And Blind’. This is a standout for me, the tribal intro mixed with the muted chugging guitars provide the perfect build into a greasy grimy hard rocker.
Ozzy’s Song. Just at the name you know it’s going to be a tear jerker. Zakk hasn’t just paid tribute, he has crafted a story, that you could imagine him having all of these amazing visuals as he jotted down the lyrics
At the end of the day, you have a quintessential Black Label Society record for 2026. Far from just “another release,” Engines Of Demolition is a testament to the band’s incredible consistency. While
many of their peers struggle to capture their original magic, Zakk Wylde and company continue to deliver high caliber riffs with a reliability that’s become their greatest strength.
The album is packed with more standout moments than most bands of this vintage could hope to produce. Even with a few experimental swings, their track record remains remarkably strong, which easily outshines much of the current field. While it fits comfortably into their catalogue, Engines Of Demolition is a high energy reminder of exactly why fans remain so loyal to the BLS chapter.
