35 years since the release of his debut album “Let Love Rule”, Lenny Kravitz, shows why he is one of the last true remaining rock stars, with his newest offering “Blue Electric Light”, which is out now through BMG.
His last album 2018’s “Raise Vibration” was hailed as one of the best of his career, and the 60year old new York native could easily just phone it in on future releases or even just go out and play live for the rest of his career, but its clear he has bigger plans
“It’s Just Another Fine Day (In This Universe of Love)” starts off the album, and is an upbeat reality check on why we should all be looking to the future and putting our focus into the good times
“Paralyzed” and “TK421” bring the bass to the front with it’s 80’s Pop and Funk fusion, the video for the latter certainly turned a lot of heads, especially in the female fans when it was released as a single.
“Honey” brings it down for a 70’s tinged love song, but don’t call it a ballad. With lyrics like “Oh, the passion we brew is a love always new, It’s so right”, safe to say Kravitz has one thing on his mind with this track. The same with “Bundle Of Joy” and lyrics like “savoir-faire to her silky thighs”
“Love Is My Religion” is a straight up Marc Bolan infused rock song, with Lenny preaching out the good vibes, and hoping everyone else takes something from it for themselves
The title track is also the album closer and it is right out of the end credits of a Hollywood blockbuster. Lenny “I just want to make love/Under blue electric light” and he shows he is all about the love, . His soulful vocals weave in and out of the keyboard laden track and really finish the ride perfectly
This Grammy Award Winner and Actor is unashamedly retro, and this eclectic group of tracks will take you on a bunch of wild twists and turns,before you finish the last track, and it’s easy to see why he has amassed over 40 million in album sales.
