The Rock Show Reawakens

Brisbane, music lovers eagerly anticipated the long-awaited return of the legendary band Grinspoon.
With their Easy Detention Tour now set to light up the stage at the illustrious Fortitude Music Hall, excitement crackled in the air like static before a thunderstorm.

Phil Jamieson’s unmistakable vocals, alongside Pat Davern’s electrifying riffs, Joe Hansen’s pulsating bass, and Kristian Hopes’ thunderous drums promised a night of pure musical ecstasy.
Their first headline tour in four years would weave together the timeless anthems of ‘Easy’ and ‘New Detention’, setting the stage for an unforgettable 90-minute spectacle.

As the lights dimmed and the crowd’s anticipation reached a fever pitch, the band burst onto the stage opening with “Anyday, Anyhow”. The infectious energy sweeping through the venue was palpable as the audience surrendered to the unrelenting rhythm, singing along with every word.

Hits like “Chemical Heart” and “Lost Control” surged through the hall, igniting flames of nostalgia and passion in equal measure, and went along seamlessly with lesser known album tracks
like “Bolt Cutter”, “Overdriver” and “Tang”. Each note and lyric carried the weight of memories, transporting the audience back to their youthful fervour with the band’s music.

The band genuinely love that they are an Australian Rock Band, and paid tributes to one of the greats INXS, with their amazing cover of “Don’t Change”.

The final 5 songs of the set were nothing short of epic, as Grinspoon unleashed a torrent of fan favourites that had the entire venue rocking with wild abandon. With every chord struck and every beat hammered, the band’s infectious love for their craft enveloped the audience, leaving indelible imprints on their (chemical) hearts.

As the last notes reverberated through the air and the last echoes of applause filled the hall, it was clear that the Easy Detention Tour had not only reignited the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll but also kindled a flame of enduring camaraderie among all who were fortunate enough to bear witness.

And so, on that fateful night, the rock show reawakened in all its raw, unbridled glory, leaving an indelible mark on the souls of those who had the privilege of joining Grinspoon on their electrifying journey.
